Why breed matters when choosing shampoo
Different coat types have different needs. A shampoo that works beautifully on a Pomeranian can leave a Labrador coat feeling stripped.
Labrador Retriever
Labs have a dense, water-resistant double coat that sheds heavily. They are prone to ear infections and can develop doggy odour quickly in Indian humidity. Bathe every 3-4 weeks with a gentle clarifying shampoo.
Golden Retriever
Goldens have a long, feathered coat that tangles if not maintained. They are prone to hot spots in Indian summers. Use a moisturising shampoo with aloe or oat protein, followed by conditioner. Bathe every 2-3 weeks.
Pomeranian and Spitz
Heavy double-coated breeds with sensitive skin underneath. Use an ultra-gentle, pH-balanced formula. Avoid anything with artificial fragrance. Bathe every 3-4 weeks maximum.
INDog (Indian Pariah Dog)
India's native breeds have evolved for the subcontinent's conditions. Their short, dense coats are naturally resilient but sensitive to chemical overload. A mild, sulphate-free shampoo every 4-6 weeks is ideal.
The one thing every breed needs in India
Regardless of breed, every dog in India benefits from a pH-balanced shampoo formulated for the local climate. BSCLY is formulated for 35C heat and 80% humidity. Not adapted from a Western formula.
